Chris Autio is an artist in Missoula, Montana. He specializes in photographing artwork for artists, galleries, and publications. Exhibitions of art include mural-sized black-and-white landscapes, often oil colored, and abstract expressionism using oils. A portrait show of his HANDS ON, included 36 16 × 20 silver gelatins. Another photo series includes montaged sepia-toned nudes. Most recent shows at Underscore Gallery and Aunt Dofe’s Gallery included 30 oil colored works from Mexico and western Washington. Autio has traveled to Mexico and Australia, where he filmed and edited feature length films on artists for educational films Glass Blowing(2007), Potters of Oaxaca(1999), and Weavers of Oaxaca(2002). Other films include documentaries on the Archie Bray Foundation(2002), Woodstack ‘95 on his father Rudy Autio and his pal Peter Voulkos(1995), The Snake River System on sculptor Patrick Zentz’ Installation(1997).

Chris has lectured for photography and art classes at his alma mater, MSU. He was published by Montana Arts Council quarterly, “How to Photograph Your Art.”
